About the event

The Monarch Mile is an inspired all-volunteer group working directly with Burbank's Parks and Recreation Department.  The project was formed in 2019 with an eagerness to plant and maintain local native plants along the Chandler Bikeway.

Diverse volunteers of all ages, experiences, talents, and interests are welcome to contact us and join the efforts.

Who can take part?

  • There is no age minimum to volunteer with The Monarch Mile, though the type of work might be best suited for age 7+.
  • All minors must be accompanied by an adult and need to fill out a minor release form to participate.* This form can be signed on the day of the event.
  • *High school students do not need to be accompanied by an adult but must submit a release form.

On February 18, 2022, from 1:00-3:30p, we will be working on the edges of the Chandler Bike Path in Burbank at the plot between Pass Ave and Maple St. This particular Volunteer day, we plan to prepare new planting sites and tidy up weeds in the existing sites for seeding and plant installations. The preparation work will include digging up established grass and weeds on the new sites and moderate weeding on the established/existing sites.

Volunteers should be:

-Willing to wear a mask for the concern and safety of others

-Eager to get your hands dirty and improve our local ecosystem
