MUNICIPAL INITIATIVES
Under the direction of Ashley Seals and Kreigh Hampel, The Monarch Mile is proceeding carefully to build positive and lasting relationships among agencies, non-profits, diverse cultures, plants and pollinators. The project has been collaborating with city officials to introduce native plant habitats to public spaces in Burbank, California. The first native plant habitats for The Monarch Mile were installed along the Chandler Bike Path in the Spring of 2021. In 2022, we continue to work along the bike path, converting thoughtfully chosen locations to pollinator-friendly spaces. The California native plant installations are designed for their benefit to the at-risk Monarch Butterfly and other essential pollinators. We are dedicated to sourcing clean plants, free from systemics, and to maintaining beautiful, drought-tolerant spaces without the use of herbicides.
Thank you to the City of Burbank!
